This year’s campaign saw 2,173 local businesses and individuals nominated, and thanks to the incredible support from our community of wildlife heroes, we made it to the top — twice.

This recognition is more than just a badge — it’s a reflection of every animal saved, every call answered, every volunteer hour given, and every supporter who believes that wildlife matters.

When I first stepped into the world of wildlife rehabilitation, I never imagined just how deeply it would shape my life. Every day is a new challenge, a new story, and a new life saved. From orphaned baby squirrels to injured raptors, each animal that comes through the doors of the Northern Colorado Wildlife Center (NCWC) reminds me why this work matters so much—not just for them, but for all of us. I’ve always believed that wildlife rehabilitation is more than just fixing broken wings or nursing animals back to health. It’s about restoring balance, inspiring future generations of conservation heroes, and giving nature a fighting chance. At NCWC, we’re not just rescuing animals—we’re educating communities, protecting habitats, and advocating for the voiceless. Last year alone, we treated 2,475 wild animals representing 134 different species, each with a story of struggle and survival.
