American Badger Patient Update!
From our friends at Rocky Mountain Wildlife Alliance, here’s an update on the baby badger patient we received several months ago—and some more insight into how your donations to your local wildlife rehabilitation teams help save wild lives.
"🐾 Badger Patient Update: From Cute to Capable 🦡
Earlier this year, we took in an orphaned—and irresistibly adorable—badger kit found curled up beside her deceased sibling along the side of the road. It was a heartbreaking start, but this little survivor has come a long way since then.
After careful monitoring and plenty of time to grow, she’s now in the final stages of her rehabilitation. For the past two months, she’s been living in a large outdoor enclosure where she's been honing essential survival skills—learning to dig, burrow, forage, and even hunt. While there are still a few things she needs to fine-tune, we’re thrilled to share she’s on track for release at the end of the month!
And here’s the best part—remember the kind man who brought us our Swift Fox patient? He’s graciously offered his ranch Milburn American Wagyu as the potential release site for our badger. It's an ideal location: beautiful, open prairie habitat that's perfect for a keystone grassland species like her.
She may have started off as a wide-eyed orphan, but today she’s fierce, feisty, and ready for the wild."
Your generosity makes stories like this possible. Whether you donate to Northern Colorado Wildlife Center, RMWA, or another licensed rehabber in Colorado, you're helping to provide food, shelter, enrichment, medical care, and a real shot at freedom for patients just like her.
Stay tuned as she gets closer to her eventual release—and thank you for standing with us and our partners in the mission to protect native wildlife.
