Welcome NoCo Wildlife's New Executive Director: Michela Dunbar!

As we welcome the new year and begin our 10th year of service, Northern Colorado Wildlife Center is proud to share an important leadership update.

We’re excited to announce that Michela Dunbar has stepped into the role of Executive Director. A Colorado native, Michela brings years of hands-on experience and steady leadership to this position, along with strong professional credentials. She is a Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator through Colorado Parks and Wildlife, a Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator with the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Colorado State University. She is also currently studying to become a certified veterinary technician.

Over the course of her career, Michela has had the privilege of serving more than 10,000 animals, including injured and orphaned wildlife admitted to licensed wildlife rehabilitation centers, as well as abandoned and stray exotic animals. This breadth of experience has shaped her science-based, compassionate approach to animal care and leadership.

In addition to her work with NCWC, Michela is the owner of Nature’s Neighbors Solutions, a small business dedicated to helping property owners coexist with wildlife. Through this work, she provides education, humane conflict resolution, and the installation of wildlife-friendly infrastructure that safely and effectively addresses human–wildlife conflicts.

Michela has been deeply involved in the day-to-day work of the organization for years, supporting animal care, staff, volunteers, and community education. Her scientific background, practical field experience, and commitment to ethical, compassionate wildlife care uniquely position her to guide NCWC as we enter our next decade of impact.

Outside of her professional work, Michela enjoys escape rooms, wildlife photography, and spending time near the water and in the mountains—places that continue to inspire her dedication to protecting wildlife and the places they call home.

To those who wish to congratulate Michela on her new role, she has shared that the most meaningful way to do so is by becoming a monthly donor, helping provide consistent, life-saving care for wildlife throughout the year. Sign up here: https://www.nocowildlife.org/individual-giving
