Things that make our team go: 🥹

Image
Things that make our team go: 🥹 This kind supporter wrote to us after we cared for a baby rabbit they had brought in earlier this month. After treatment at Northern Colorado Wildlife Center, the little rabbit—nicknamed by the rescuer, “Dottie” for the white dot on its forehead—was healthy enough to return home to the wild. Today, Dottie is thriving, seen grazing with other wild rabbits in the yard where she was released. Along with their kind words, this supporter also included a donation to help ensure more animals get the same chance at life. Every note, every gift, every rescued animal—it all comes together to make stories like this possible. Thank you to everyone who stands with us and with Colorado’s wildlife! 💚 . . #WildlifeRehabilitation #RabbitRescue #ColoradoWildlife #WildlifeRescue #RescueRehabRelease

Connect Your King Soopers Loyalty Card To Northern Colorado Wildlife Center to Save Wildlife!

Image
Help Wildlife Every Time You Shop—at NO cost to you! If you’re not familiar with the King Soopers Community Rewards program, here’s how it works: You simply link your King Soopers (or City Market) loyalty card to Northern Colorado Wildlife Center, and every time you shop and scan your card, King Soopers donates a portion of their profit from your purchase to us. 💚 It’s NOT an add-on. 💚 It does NOT increase your prices. 💚 It actually often helps you SAVE money by unlocking loyalty discounts. The more people who sign up and scan their card, the more micro-donations King Soopers and their parent company Kroger send our way—funding our wildlife rehabilitation program, community education program, and habitat improvement projects. All those small donations add up to hundreds of life-saving dollars for sick and injured wildlife brought to our center every day by compassionate community members. It only takes about 2 minutes to sign up, costs nothing, and makes a BIG impact. Pl...

American Badger Patient Update!

Image
From our friends at Rocky Mountain Wildlife Alliance, here’s an update on the baby badger patient we received several months ago—and some more insight into how your donations to your local wildlife rehabilitation teams help save wild lives. "🐾 Badger Patient Update: From Cute to Capable 🦡 Earlier this year, we took in an orphaned—and irresistibly adorable—badger kit found curled up beside her deceased sibling along the side of the road. It was a heartbreaking start, but this little survivor has come a long way since then. After careful monitoring and plenty of time to grow, she’s now in the final stages of her rehabilitation. For the past two months, she’s been living in a large outdoor enclosure where she's been honing essential survival skills—learning to dig, burrow, forage, and even hunt. While there are still a few things she needs to fine-tune, we’re thrilled to share she’s on track for release at the end of the month! And here’s the best part—remember the ...

Porcupette Patient Update!

Image
Porcupette Patient Update!  From our friends at @rockymountainwildlifealliance, "Early last month, we got a call from our friends at Northern Colorado Wildlife Center about a baby porcupine who was orphaned and in rough shape. Once they stabilized her, the little porcupette was transferred to us for continued rehabilitation care. While we’ve had a handful of porcupines come through our center over the years, we’ve never had one this small! This slow-moving, tree-loving baby quickly earned the nickname “North American sloth” from our staff due to her calm, slow, and methodical nature. And while her pace might be on the leisurely side, porcupines play an important role in Colorado’s ecosystems. You can find North American porcupines throughout the state—especially in forested areas, foothills, and rocky canyons. They’re excellent climbers and spend much of their time in trees, munching on bark, twigs, and leaves. Their feeding habits m...
