A huge thank you to Desirée Kendall at Coldwell Banker Realty - Northern Colorado for sponsoring Northern Colorado Wildlife Center's Trunk-or-Treat at the Silver Sponsor level! Desirée isn’t just dedicated to helping families find homes, she’s an excellent realtor who brings care, expertise, and heart into every step of the process. She's helped not only our organization, but has even helped our staff purchase their first homes. Her commitment to both people and place makes her an incredible community partner! Because of sponsors like Desirée, we’re able to host events that bring families together, celebrate Halloween in style, and support our mission to protect wildlife and the places they call home. Thank you, Desirée and Coldwell Banker, for helping make this year’s Trunk-or-Treat possible! 🎃🏡💚

Northern Colorado Wildlife Center is Feeling the Fall Spirit!

Image
As the rainy weather rolls through NoCo, our team and patients are feeling the shift into fall—and we couldn’t be more excited for the season ahead! This little orphaned squirrel has been with us for 57 days. He came in from Denver as a neonatal-aged orphan, only a few days old, with his eyes still closed and tiny injuries scattered across his body. While we’ll never know exactly what caused those injuries, what mattered most was that he had the chance to survive. From those fragile first days, he has grown and healed in our care, and today he’s thriving alongside his “step-siblings”—other orphaned squirrel patients around the same age. To help us keep track of his daily medications and extra supportive care needs, we gave him the tiniest “mini squirrel haircut”—a small patch of fur clipped on top of his head. It’s harmless, grows back quickly, and ensures we can give him exactly what he needs to thrive until he’s ready for release back into the wild. Moments like this one—...

Let's Learn About American Badgers!

Image
American badgers are a native carnivore found throughout much of the western and central United States, including Colorado. Recognizable by their stocky build, striking facial markings, and strong claws, badgers are incredible diggers. They build extensive underground burrow systems, which not only provide them shelter but also create important habitat for many other species. These animals are solitary and primarily nocturnal, feeding on small mammals, ground-nesting birds, reptiles, and insects. As ecosystem engineers, they play a vital role in maintaining balance in prairie and grassland environments. This particular badger was found orphaned earlier this year and successfully raised by Northern Colorado Wildlife Center's team in partnership with RMWA and released back into the wild—a story made possible because of the support that you show every day. 💚 📸 Photo credit: Volunteer M. Thank you to everyone who joined us last night in Old Town Square, Fort Collins to connect with Northern Colorado Wildlife Center's environmental education team! In this photo you’ll see our environmental educator Meg, one of our amazing volunteers, and two of our ambassador animals—our ambassador pigeon Cloud, who was the star of the evening’s programs, and our ambassador bullsnake Loop, who also helped spark conversations about Colorado’s incredible native wildlife and how to protect them. Together, they reminded us that even the most familiar animals have important roles to play in our ecosystems. We’re grateful for the chance to share our mission with the community and can’t wait for the next opportunity to bring our ambassador animals out into Fort Collins to meet you! . . #WildlifeEducation #NCWC #FortCollins #EnvironmentalEducation #Community

Voting has been extended—now through September 5th!

Voting has been extended—now through September 5th! Northern Colorado Wildlife Center is honored to be nominated in this year’s Best of NoCo Style campaign, and we’d be so grateful for your vote. It’s completely free, takes just a minute or two, and every vote helps shine a light on the lifesaving work we do for Colorado’s injured and orphaned wildlife. If we win, not only does our team get a huge morale boost, but NCWC will also win more than $1,000 worth of advertising during the giving season, be featured in magazine articles, and gain a special invite to an exclusive event where we can cultivate vital support for our wildlife hospital. That means more awareness, more resources, and more animal lives saved! Please take a moment to vote before September 5th and help us keep standing strong for wildlife: https://2025-best-of-noco--nocostyle.contest.vote/services/animal-rescue-rehabilitation Thank you for standing with us and for every wild life we serve. . . #BestOfNoCo #N...
